A Disciple's Heart, the first book in the Keys To Understanding Life Series, looks at how each believer in Jesus Christ is His disciple. A disciple's heart (yours and ours) is to be open to the Spirit of God, especially during trials. Opening your heart to the Spirit of God involves working with Him to change what is often hidden there. A Disciple's Heart reminds you that the purpose of being discipled is to develop your ability to allow the Lord to change your heart. In so doing, you can increase how much your life and actions express who you are in Christ during trials. A Disciple's Heart examines how listening to the voice of God with your heart relates to discipleship. It challenges you to examine yourself in terms of how well you are being discipled by the Spirit of God by hearing His counsel and guidance during your real-life trials and spiritual battles.

It examines the relationship of the Spirit of God's instruction to experiencing, or being, "who we are in Christ" during a trial.

 

-     A Disciple's Heart highlights critical spiritual "skill sets" we can and should expect to develop or enhance by being discipled beyond the basics as disciples of Christ, and why continual improvement in them is vital to continual growth in the new self.

 

-     A Disciple's Heart compares and contrasts being discipled in the elementary teachings of Christ (the basics) and being discipled beyond those teachings. The book also looks at how important the differences are when it comes to practical application in normal everyday living for Christ. (Hebrews 5:11-6:3)

 

-     A Disciple's Heart identifies the kinds of settings or environments in which we can be discipled beyond the basics, and it looks at Scriptural examples of them. The book also looks at the challenges and strengths of each, as well as how Satan may attack believers in each.
